Local Lib Dems want to know residents' views on the disused gardens in Thanet Gardens.

Local campaigner, Peter Carroll and Harbour Ward Councillor Tessa Caruana have been approached by residents of Thanet Gardens to help them get something done with the gardens.

The gardens are overgrown and many of the brick walls around the gardens are collapsing.

Some residents have approached Shepway District Council in the past, and were told that the gardens would be removed, one-by-one when the money became available. If the residents did not want to see this happen they were asked to write a letter. Peter and Tessa believe that every resident should be able to have a say in what happens with their area.

Tessa Caruana said "The Council didn't give all the residents a proper opportunity to respond. Some may have not felt able or confident enough to write a letter. I believe everyone's views should be heard."

The Lib Dem team are now conducting a survey of local people's views. If the overwhelming majority wish to see a local community group set up they will contact local residents with the names of others who have volunteered.

Once a decision has been made, the Lib Dems will then lobby Shepway District Council asking them to listen to the wishes of the local residents. Let's get some action for our area!
