Carroll leads calls to save local wards

The Folkestone and Hythe Extra has confirmed that two wards at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Folkestone are earmarked are earmarked for closure. The Shepway Primary Care Trust which runs the hospital is suggesting the closure of the Fitton and Edinburgh wards and the transfer of the services they provide to Dover.

Peter Carroll is strongly against the proposals, and has collected hundreds of petition signatures over the last few weeks against them. He said:

"I believe these services must remain in Folkestone where local people can use them. I will make sure local residents views are heard at all levels, and urge local people to also register their opinions directly with the Health Trust."

Local residents are being urged to give their views on the proposals, which are published in a document called "Intermediate Care Services in Shepway - Moving Forward" which outlines the proposals. For your copy, call 01304 216854. Comments should be sent by post to:
