Claire Rayner boosts Peter Carroll's Campaign

Top "agony aunt" Claire Rayner visited residents of Holywell House in Folkestone yesterday to boost Peter Carroll's campaign to beat Michael Howard. Claire told residents that she was a supporter of the Labour Party for over 50 years. She has now switched her support to the Lib Dems.
Claire Rayner said, 'I left Labour because they simply did not deliver on free care for the elderly. They have not stopped the practice of elderly people having to sell their homes to pay the fees in nursing homes.' Claire is urging all Labour supporters to back Peter Carroll to defeat Michael Howard.
Peter Carroll said, 'Claire is some-one who cares passionately about health issues and particularly about care for the elderly in nursing and residential homes. The fact that after 50 years she has left Labour and joined the Lib Dems is a sign of how the Lib Dems are now the Party that really cares about older people'
