Mobile police station to visit East Folkestone

March 10, 2006 12:00 AM

Residents in East Folkestone are being encouraged to talk to their neighbourhood police officers about crime and anti-social behaviour. The new mobile police station will be parked at the Baptist Church car park in Hill Road on Wednesday 15 and Friday 17 March, between 10am and 2pm.

PC Jacqui Harris and other neighbourhood officers will be available to discuss any issues - from anti-social behaviour to general crime prevention advice.

Mobile police stations were launched late last year and are already making an important contribution to neighbourhood policing in South East Kent. They are part of Chief Constable Michael Fuller's vision of a fully accessible, neighbourhood police force providing front counter services to both rural and urban communities.

The use of the mobile police station in Dover recently led to the community coming forward with some important information about drug dealing and associated nuisance behaviour. As a result Kent Police made six arrests and successfully applied for the closure of four 'crack' houses.

PC Jacqui Harris said:

"As part of the neighbourhood policing unit I am keen to listen to residents, to hear their concerns and then to support and work with them to tackle any problems they may have.

"I would urge them to make use of the mobile police station while it is in the area, come and speak to us, we want to help."
