Weymouth Road Bowls Club Development Threat

Map showing location of proposed housing development Shepway Council are considering selling Council owned land on Weymouth Road in front of the Bowls Club for a "residential development" of up to FIVE houses.

The plan came to light when Lib Dem Councillor Peter Gane was asked his views on the Tory & 'People First' Council plan.

Incredibly, the plan comes from the "Economic Development" Department - led by Cheriton Councillor Linda Cufley!

Peter Gane said:

"I can't begin to understand how any Cheriton Councillor could support this move.

"I would oppose any form of residential development on what I consider to be recreational land like this.

"Cheriton Recreation is an important environmental resource to the residents in this area and should be protected. Any residential development here would I feel set a precedent on this land."
