Kent Trading Standards Warn on Card Cloning

Credit Cards Kent Trading Standards have received reports about a number of incidents of credit card 'cloning'. Criminals use equipment to steal data from a person's credit card without their knowledge and then use this data to make a copy of the card.

The criminals use this newly created copy card to obtain goods and services, usually in other countries. The victim only becomes aware of the fraud when they notice unauthorised transactions appearing on their card statement. The victim does not lose possession of their card. To reduce the chances of becoming a victim of this fraud try to keep sight of your card when using it to pay for goods or services.

If you believe that you have been a victim of credit card fraud, report the incident to your card issuer immediately and report the fraud to Kent Police on 01622 690690.
