Sandgate Road to Be Closed for Up to Three Weeks

Folkestone Harvey Central Town Councillor Gary Fuller has learned that Sandgate Road in to Folkestone from Hythe will be closed for around 3 weeks. The closure is likely to cause significant traffic problems in the area, and lead to the diversion and disruption of bus services.
Following the recent underground survey on the trench reinstatement in Sandgate Road, between Trinity Crescent and Trinity Gardens, Kent Highways now believe it is necessary to excavate down on to the main sewer to establish the cause of settlement of the trench.
This will involve the closure of Sandgate Road and the diversion of traffic via Earl's Avenue, Shorncliffe Road and Castle Hill Avenue. Work will commence on 15th October for around 3 weeks. Should the investigation reveal a problem with Southern Water's foul sewer, the Southern Water will take over the works and carry out necessary repairs.
Councillor Fuller has contacted Stagecoach to check on the plans to alter bus routes during this period. Although the plans are not finalised buses are likely to be diverted via Earl's Avenue, Bouverie Road West and Castle Hill Avenue for the duration of the repairs, which will effect services on routes 10, 12, 16 & 711.
Gary Fuller said:
"The underground survey seems to have taken ages: it was mean't to be undertaken in mid-August, and we'll still waiting for the problem to get fixed. I hope KCC understand how disruptive this could be and make sure the repairs are made as quickly as possible."
