Town Council Visit Folkestone Academy

A delegation from Folkestone Town Council today visited the Folkestone Academy for a presentation and guided tour with Principal John Patterson. The £38 million Academy opened in September, and the tour was an opportunity to show off some of the facilities at the school.

The delegation included Lib Dem Councillors Maggie Barratt, Bev Rolfe, Dhan Gurung, Tom McNeice, Tim Prater, Emily Sanger and Mayor Peter Gane. The tour visited all areas of the new building on the three levels including the upstairs "walkways" connecting the building.

John Patterson answered a range of questions on the Academy and said that he had been "pleasantly surprised" at how well the new building was performing. Some work is still ongoing at the school, including "snagging", landscaping around the building and the laying of new football and cricket pitches, and installation of a new catering kitchen and restaurant to support NVQ courses in catering.
