Met office: Kent Gale Warnings

A Met Office Severe Weather Warning has been issued for Kent, saying that gale force southwesterly winds are expected during much of the daytime on Thursday across Kent. Gusts of 70 mph are possible at times, especially near the coast.

The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the Highways Agency for further advice regarding traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads.

The Port of Dover has been closed due to the weather conditions, and it is to be expected that some level of Operation Stack may be imposed in the next few hours.
