Kent Tourism Businesses Encouraged To Go Green with New Guide

March 5, 2008 6:12 PM

A free new resource to encourage the tourism industry to 'go greener' is now available with the publication of the first ever 'Guide to Sustainable Tourism for Dummies'®, part of the Dummies'® series of easy-to-use guidance books from publishers Wiley.

The 36-page A6 guide is designed to help tourism businesses of all sizes become more sustainable - saving money, attracting more 'green conscious' customers and reducing their impact on the environment.

The ''Guide to Sustainable Tourism for Dummies®' covers both strategic issues and a vast range of practical tips on improving environmental performance, benefiting businesses with simple and immediate advice on low cost measures to make a green difference.

Folkestone Town Councillor Tim Prater has welcomed the launch of the guide. He said:

"Folkestone needs to do its part on tackling climate change. I was delighted when Folkestone Town Council agreed last year to become one of the first Town Councils to sign up to the Nottingham Declaration on Climate Change - committing us to not reduce our environmental impact, but encourage the whole community to do so.

"This new guide gives our crucial local tourism business practical guidance on making their businesses more sustainable - I hope they find it useful."

The guide can be downloaded for free from the Visit South-East England web site at
