A number of roads in Sandgate, Cheriton, East Folkestone, Hythe, New Romney and Lydd have been scheduled by Kent Highway Services for "Micro-Surfacing". It is anticipated that all works will be undertaken from the last week in April to the second week in May.
The resurfacing is effectively a surface dressing means spraying a road with a coating of hot bitumen and then covering it with stone chippings. The chippings are rolled into the bitumen to form a water-resistant, protective layer, which makes the road less slippery.
The roads scheduled for resurfacing are:
Sandgate
Cheriton
Heritage Road, Folkestone - From its junction with Risborough Lane for its entire length.
Firs Lane, Folkestone - From its junction with Cheriton High Street for its entire length.
Appledore Crescent, Folkestone - From its junction with Shaftsbury Avenue for its entire length.
East Folkestone
Hythe
New Romney
Lydd
Kent Highway Services say that subject to weather conditions, it is anticipated that works will commence approximately 28th April and all sites will be completed over a period of 10 working days.
All sites will be letter dropped and advance notification boards will be placed at either end of the sites prior to commencement stating the intended commencement date. All sites will involve road closures due to the nature of the works and the necessary traffic control will be applied relevant to each site.
