Shepway Council CPA Assessment: Council "Fair"

A Comprehensive Performance Assessment (CPA) reassessment of Shepway Council by the Audit Commission has reported that Shepway has moved from being "weak" to "fair". The CPA inspection verdict of "weak" was made in 2004, when Shepway was just one point away from being classed a 'poor' council.
Shepway Council Chief Executive Alistair Stewart has received notification that the reassessment report gives Shepway a new rating of "fair".
In the first round of CPA:
- 28 Councils received an assessment of "Excellent"
- 86 Councils received an assessment of "Good"
- 86 Councils received an assessment of "Fair"
- 29 Councils received an assessment of "Weak"
- 9 Councils received an assessment of "Poor"
Shepway Lib Dem Group Leader Lynne Beaumont commented:
"The praise for seeing this increase in results goes to the staff across Shepway who have been working and focused on this reassessment for months. It's good to see their work recognised, and I'm delighted for them."
