Shorncliffe Road Trees

Suddenly the trees were gone: trees in Shorncliffe Road in Folkestone were cut down to half their size with not so much as a by-your-leave!
When concerned residents contacted councillor Tom McNeice, he rang the Highway Services of Kent County Council. They explained that the trees were diseased and had to be cut down, but were not cut down to ground level so that they were not a tripping hazard. Tom says:
"Kent says it is their intention to replace the trees at some time, but probably not soon as there are insufficient funds to allow this to happen.
"Folkestone Town Council is now looking into the removal of diseased highway trees across Folkestone. We need to know how widespread the problem is and what it will cost to replace them."
