Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce respond to Kent International Gateway planning application

February 8, 2009 6:04 PM

Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce have responded to the submitted plans for Kent International Gateway on the outskirts of Maidstone, saying they are "seriously concerned that the Kent International Gateway planning application may have unacceptable local impact".

Kent International Gateway is proposed to be a rail/road freight interchange with buildings for warehousing and distribution and offices, research and development and light industrial units, on 112 hectares west of M20 J8 (Bearsted/Hollingbourne / Leeds Castle).

The summary of their response (available in full at www.kentinvictachamber.co.uk/blog/kentintgateway/) says:

"...whilst the Chamber is supportive of substantial sustainable economic development with the Maidstone Borough Council area to support the future growth aspirations of the town as confirmed within the draft South East Plan (as amended), the Chamber remains seriously concerned that the Kent International Gateway planning application may have unacceptable local impact to the detriment to the overall objective of the town's Growth Point status."
