Met office warn of icy roads overnight in Kent and heavy rain through Monday and Tuesday

A water leak creates a small ice rink in the road. The Government Met Office (www.metoffice.gov.uk) have warned of widespread icy roads across Kent on Sunday night (8 February), with heavy rain then forecast for the County from mid-afternoon on Monday (9 February) through Tuesday.

On the icy roads the Met Office say:

"The combination of wet or snow covered surfaces, combined with a widespread frost, will lead to widespread icy stretches on untreated roads and pavements.

"The public are advised to take extra care and refer to the 'Highways Agency' for further advice on traffic disruption on motorways and trunk roads."

On the rain for Monday and Tuesday the Met Office say:

"Outbreaks of rain will be persistent and at times heavy. Accumulations of 25 to 35mm are expected. Combining this with melting snow, this may lead to localised flooding."
