New Hythe Town Councillor Sam Matthews went back to his former Cub Pack, Hythe Sea Cubs, to help out on a Pack meeting last Thursday. Lib Dem Councillor Sam attended Hythe Sea Cubs in 1992 and still has fond memories of the time spent there.

During the visit he talked to the cubs about his time as a Cub and the good experiences he remembered. Sam told the Cubs:

"While I was speaking to people on the doorstep during my election I made a promise to connect with the young people of the town, and what a better place to start than at my Cubs Pack?"

Sam also took part in potato printing and a game of 'Pirates' Keys'.

Hythe Scouts began in Hythe in 1909 and this is their Centenary year, to commemorate this event a special Cub badge and flag have been made. Phyllis Couchman, Sam's Akela in 1992 but who is now known as 'Raksha', presented Sam with one of the special Centenary Badges at the end of the evening.
