Little Cheyne Court Wind Farm Officially Opened

The South East's largest onshore wind farm at Little Cheyne Court on Romney Marsh has been opened by the Energy and Climate Change Secretary Ed Milliband.
The £60m wind farm has 26 wind turbines, each 115m high to the tip of the rotor blade.
Once fully operational it will generate enough electricity to meet the annual needs of up to 33,000 homes - around 75% of the annual average demand of homes in the Shepway District Council area.
Folkestone Lib Dem Tim Prater says:
"The new wind farm is a real icon on the landscape looking over Romney Marsh, and will will make a useful contribution of renewable power to the South East. I believe that Shepway Council originally opposed this development - I think they were wrong to do so. Wind power does not solve all our energy issues, but certainly should be considered to be a part of the answer."
