Huge Surge for Lib Dems in Polls Good News for Folkestone and Hythe

Three national opinion polls over the weekend have shown the Liberal Democrats surging into the lead in the General Election race nationally. Folkestone and Hythe Parliamentary Candidate Lynne Beaumont has welcomed the news, saying that although the polls will continue to change, it's clear that there is all to play for both nationally and locally.
The three polls showing the Liberal Democrats ahead (for the first time ever during a General Election campaign) were all published on Sunday and Monday:
- BPIX / Mail on Sunday: Lib Dem 32%, Conservative 31%, Labour 28%
- OnePoll / People: Lib Dem 33%, Conservative 27%, Labour 23%
- YouGov / The Sun: Lib Dem 33%, Conservative 32%, Labour 26%
Lynne Beaumont commented:
"I'm delighted that on the back of our manifesto launch and the first ever Party Leaders debate, more and more people are seeing Nick Clegg and the Liberal Democrats nationally, and liking what they see.
"No-one should get too carried away with opinion polls but the results are reflecting our experience here in Folkestone and Hythe. We're getting a steady stream of new people contacting us to pledge their support, switching from supporting other parties and offering to join and help. The polls will, I'm sure, vary over the coming weeks, but one trend is clear: support for the Liberal Democrats is growing - fast."
