Cheriton and Morehall Police and PSCO Update: April 2010

May 2, 2010 2:42 PM

Please see below an update for the month of April, showing what we have been up to. Surgeries were held on 24th April. Future dates include:

Wednesday 19th May, at St Andrews Church Hall

Saturday 29th May, at All Souls Church Hall

PC Gavin Rolfe and PCSO Mark Ball conducted speed checks in Pond hill road. 25% of the vehicles, which passed, were stopped and given warning about their speeds that averaged between 33 and 38mph. Advice on road safety was also provided to all drivers exceeding the speed limit.

PCSO Mark Ball stopped and spoke with Pent Valley pupils attempting to cause criminal damage to road safety bollards in Cheriton Road. Words of warning were given, full details recorded and the individuals moved on. Members of public were happy to see this level of engagement.

Local Officers Mark Ball and Keith Sansum attended Ashley House, Ashley Avenue, with regards to a resident who had accepted a parcel from the postman, belonging to a neighbour and then refused to give it to them. The parcel contained vital Medication, which has to be taken on a daily basis. Other residents stated that they were concerned, as the lady who had the parcel had previously been taken to hospital under the 'Mental Health Act', and can act in a volatile manner. When engaged, the lady surrendered the parcel immediately to Officers who subsequently ensured that it was delivered to its rightful owner.

On Saturday 10th April 2010 PC Gavin Rolfe received a telephone call from a member of the public stating that a wanted person was at an address in Cheriton. Gavin attended the address and arrested the individual, who was wanted on a warrant for failing to appear at Court for an outstanding crime report for criminal damage in Folkestone.

PC Gavin Rolfe responded to a call regarding young persons drinking alcohol outside the CO-OP in Cheriton High Street. One of the group was clearly very drunk, and also known to police. The alcohol was confiscated, words of warning were given and individual details recorded. A letter regarding the group's conduct has been sent to the parents.

Officer Mark Ball responded to a call regarding youths hitting golf balls from their back garden at other residential properties. The youths in question were quickly identified and spoken to in the presence of their mother. Words of warning were given and details of the family taken.

Officer's Mark Ball and Jo Baker attended Tesco petrol station, on Cheriton High Street in relation to a distressed female suffering from Schizophrenia. Officers conveyed the lady home, spoke with her carer, and provided reassurance.
