Trudy Dean, Leader of the Lib Dem Group at Kent County Council, has called on Conservative Leader Paul Carter to retract his statement that the KCC Chief Executive's contract was extended as the result of a unanimous cross party vote involving Lib Dem and Labour Cllrs in 2006.
In an e-mail to Mr Carter, Trudy Dean pointed out that when she challenged this statement, officers confirmed that neither the handwritten notes of the Clerk making the official record of the meeting, nor the published Minutes say that the vote was unanimous. She wrote:
" I have spoken to the Lib Dem representative on the committee, whose recollection is that neither he nor the Labour representatives on the committee agreed with the decision. Under the circumstances, I think your attempt to spread the blame to other parties is regrettable, and I ask you to retract your statement."
