Folkestone West Potholes: Over 50 roads affected across Cheriton, Morehall and Sandgate

In response to a recent email enquiring about which roads in Cheriton, Morehall and Sandgate were scheduled for pothole repair, Kent Highway Services provided the following list:
- Ashley Avenue, Audley Road
- Bathurst Road, Biggins Wood Road, Broadview
- Canada Close, Cheriton High Street, Cheriton Interchange - 30th April, Cherry Garden Lane, Clifton Crescent, Corone Close, Craufurd Green
- Enbrook Valley
- Freemantle Road
- Geraldine Road, Gordon Road
- Mackenzie Drive
- North Road - 28th April, Postling Road
- Quested Road
- Ravenlea Road, Risborough Way - 26 April
- Sandgate High Street, Shorncliffe Road, Somerset Road, St Francis Road - 26 April, St Georges Road, St Hilda Road - 26 April
- Taylor Road
- Valebrook Close
- Wellington Road, West Road, Weymouth Close
Where a date is given, that is the date scheduled by Kent Highways Services for repair.
County Councillor Tim Prater and Sandgate Parish Councillor Season Prater have checked other roads across Cheriton, Morehall and Sandgate, and have now additionally reported potholes in:
Cheriton:
- Shaftesbury Avenue, junctions with Stanley Road and between there and Woodfield Close
- Hawkins Road, junction with Langdon Road
- Horn Street, junction with Cheriton High St
- Cherry Court Road, close to junction with Valebrook
- Risborough Lane, junction of Church Road
- Cherry Brook Road
- Risborough Lane junction with Risborough Way
Morehall:
- Caesar's Way, junction with Tile Kiln Lane
- Cherry Garden Av, junctions with Cherry Garden Lane and Webb Close
- Sutton Close
- Station Road
- Coolinge Lane, near junctions with Croft Lane and Paddock Close
- Bowen Road, junction with Phillip Road
- Stoddart Road, junction with Ashley Av
Sandgate
- Military Road, close to recreation ground on part of road heading north, just north of 90 degree bend
- Military Road, junction with Bybrook Field
- Digby Road, junction with Redmill Close
- Enbrook Valley junction with Fremantle Road
- Sandgate High Street junction with Gough Road
- Sandgate Esplanade junction with Encombe
- Sandgate Esplanade junction with Battery Point
- Hospital Hill opposite Alexandra Corniche
Lib Dem Councillor Tim Prater commented:
"When there are over 50 roads across the area with serious potholes in them, then it's clear that the maintenance system itself is failing to keep on top of the work. Add to this the fiasco that is the over six months that has already passed waiting for the new traffic lights on Shorncliffe Road to be connected after their installation. The way our roads and streetlights are being maintained and improved is failing.
"We should have much stronger local control, proper use of wide variety of local contractors, better contracts and deals with external suppliers and frankly more repairs being done, quicker."
