Shepway Parking Strategy 2011

Shepway plans for new parking charges and paid-for residents parking permits across the district have caused anger from local residents and businesses. The Conservative Council proposals would see £100,000's EXTRA being taken from local people.

Residents could be charged for permits to park outside their own house and every time they shop. The Liberal Democrats are calling on Shepway Council to change their strategy and instead support local businesses and residents.

- No changes to existing parking charges which leads to empty car parks
- Reduced charges for local car parks to boost usage

- Fighting for a parking space as now
- Free permit parking on your street
- Paying for a permit to park where you live
Town Centre and Seafront Parking
- On-road free arking spaces being hogged all day long
- Limited term free parking that’s unlimited for local residents with permits
- Charging all residents, shoppers and visitors to park in many local roads from the minute they arrive
